CPD programme

Advancing gender equity in STEM-TVET

The STEAM Coach continuous professional development (CPD) programme is a blended training model for educators, trainers and institutional leaders in STEM-related TVET sectors, providing relevant tools, skills and strategies to address the underrepresentation of women in technical fields and drive sustainable cultural and systemic change in institutions and workplaces. The programme focuses on building gender-sensitive training, strengthening organisational leadership and implementing practical diversity strategies to foster inclusive learning and work environments. It combines immediate action with long-term planning to create spaces where women can thrive in STEM-TVET careers.

Within the CPD programme, the Competence matrix acts as its main framework, defining the competences, learning outcomes and assessment criteria that structure all training activities and ensure consistency with EQF and EQAVET quality standards. It guides the development of professional capacity across three interconnected competence areas (1. Cultural competence and awareness; 2. Inclusive leadership and management; and 3. Educational outreach and STEM promotion) creating a coherent pathway for institutional transformation.

The CPD programme is then organised through two complementary learning formats: the face-to-face workshops built around real-life scenarios, group exercises and inclusive coaching tools such as case studies, “how-to” guides and calls to action to enable reflection and co-development of actionable strategies; and the self-directed online courses, which allow learners to consolidate and expand their knowledge at their own pace, applying what they learned during the workshops.
